Ramsey's school has about 2-3 dances for 7th and 8th graders per year. There is one 6th grade dance and he refused to go last year and there has been one 7th grade dance so far that he said he wouldn't go to. Well all week he's been saying that he doesn't want to go to the dance on 12/11. Hen talked to him before he left for school on Fri 12/11 and Ram said he would go to the dance that night. WHAT?? I texted Lesley and asked if Michael was going to go (of course!) and if Ram could go with him. Yep. The dance was from 6:30-8:30 and I suggested to Lesley that she and I go to dinner while the boys were at the dance. Ramsey said he would go in his regular everyday clothes (and he did, refused to dress up a little) while Michael wore khaki shorts and a short sleeve button down shirt. (I need to buy Ram some casual dress up clothes.) Lesley and I dropped off the boys about 6:40 and went to downtown Menlo Park for dinner at Cafe de Sol (Mexican) and came back to get them around 8:20. The line of cars was super long! The longest I've ever seen drop off/pick up at Hillview. We eventually got to the front and picked them up (Lesley called Michael and Michael came and we asked where Ram was, he said, "What? He's right behind me." Nope, Ram was distracted and Michael goes back out and YELLS, "Ramsey van der Meer!!!") and Michael said the dance wasn't that fun and Ram said it was okay. He said people (organizers) were throwing out the glow necklaces and he caught so many and gave so many away. He said he danced but not with a girl but Michael said he did. We got home after 9:30 because we went to pick up Michael's sister before coming home. As we were walking in the door, Ram complains he is super thirsty because they only sold drinks with caffeine like Mountain Dew, Pepsi and root beer. We've got him convinced not to drink soda, ha ha ha!
