A Few More Things
Ant's school offers an after school class called iCode which teaches the kids to program using Scratch. We had signed Ant up for this class for the 1st trimester but he *refused* to go. We signed him up for the session starting 12/3 (for 12 weeks for $366!!!) but in the morning he still refused to go. I went to his school and walked him to the class and sat and observed for the 1 hour. There are 9 kids in the class -- only 2 girls and honestly 90% Asian! Ant was engaged and made a program to have a shark chase a quacking (thus he has headphones on because he wanted to add sounds) duck at a medieval castle. The important thing is he had fun doing it and says he will do this class. Yay!
I spent the day baking 3 kids of cookies as we/I are invited to 2 cookie exchange parties this month. I need to figure out what cookie(s) to bring for exchange. Two years ago when Julie (John's mom) had her cookie exchange party I made snowballs. That is a lot of work and not a hit with my family. That time I brought home some homemade ginger snap cookies and Hen and Ram loved them. I asked the friend who made it for the recipe and she said it was the Betty Crocker recipe. I made that one (upper left in container) but it was too crispy so I made another one from Sally's Baking Addiction (cooling on the wire rack) and Ram approved that one. I also made a batch of chocolate chip cookies. I'm probably going to try to make some cut out cookies for the cookie exchange too.
After school Ramsey went to John's house with Rowan to finish their Spanish project. Ramsey had soccer practice 4-5 but he skipped it to do their project. I went to pick him up at 5:30 and hung out while they watched some cartoons on Hulu.
Last night Hen had a work dinner (again) and the boys wanted to sleep with me in our bed. The boys brought *ALL* their blankets into my bed and we were sleeping under 4 down blankets and several other small blankets. It was heavy! Our house is cold (really, like between 52 to 57 degrees) and no one else besides me wants to have the heater on (I only want to heat to 62 degrees) because they complain the heater dries out their noses. We read in bed and I fell asleep before they did. I wish Hen would close his closet daily but he likes to keep it open…
