We had another one of our (now usual) crazy sports weekends.
It all started at 4:30am on Sat 9/19. I got up to make 50 spam musubis for Ramsey's SVBC basketball tournament which the SVBC club was sponsoring/hosting. The team's parents were in charge of providing food for the food concession tables. I had started a pork shoulder in the crockpot the night before and was sending that (Kahlua pork) along with a 10 cup rice cooker for one dish. At 4:30am I started all 4 rice cookers (my 5 cup, a borrowed 5 cup, a borrowed 6 cup and a borrowed 10 cup). At 6:00 I started making musubis and at 6:50 I woke up Hendrik to help because in that time I only was able to make 15. Ramsey woke up at 7:10 and started helping too. Amazingly we were all done with 52 musubis by 7:40am. I then went to shower.
At 8am, Ayden's parents dropped him off at our house. I took Ayden and Anthony (who claimed they needed a blanket in the car…on a 90 degree day) to Milpitas for their 9am game (they had to be there at 8:30 for warm up). Meanwhile Hendrik was to leave the house at 9am with the food (52 musubis, Kahlua pork and rice) to deliver to the gym in Santa Clara.
Anthony played goalie for the entire game. He saved quite a few goals but he did let 3 goals in…sigh. The game ended in a 3-3 tie. While at the field at 9:35am, Hen called and asked if I could go home and get the rice cooker as he FORGOT IT AT HOME! Argh, no, I am in Milpitas and he has to go home form Santa Clara to get it and bring it back to the gym. HIS FAULT HE FORGOT IT. That cut into his own basketball time. Hen dropped Ramsey off at the gym along with the food.
Anthony and Ayden at the playground near the field after their game.
The first game was at 1:10pm. We got there just in time. All the Kahlua pork and rice was sold out already. I think all the musubis were sold out too. I made 50 and another parent made 50 and I didn't see mine at the concession so I'm guessing they were all sold.
Ramsey got some play time in the 1:10pm game. Say 25% of the game. Their team won!
When the 1:10pm game was done, Ant and I went to Costco to buy another pork shoulder and some other groceries. Hen and Ram did scorekeeping for the game right afterward. Ant and I went home and we watching part of Adventures of Winnie the Pooh together and he loved it. We went back to watch the second game at 5:50pm. That game started late, say 6:15. Poor Ramsey got absolutely NO playing time (along with 3 other boys who also never left the bench) because the game was so close. Actually the game ended in a 40-40 tie and in the 3 minutes overtime the score was 53-42 and we won! It was 7:35pm. There was a social event planned at a bowling alley in Cupertino. As soon as we got into the car, Ant started wailing, "I'm hungry and tired and Ramsey hit me with his elbow waaaaaaahhhh! I hate Ramsey! I want to throw him out of this car! etc" It was a long temper tantrum and I think he was so hungry and tired (and hot and thirsty being it was 90 degrees. We were going to drop Ram and Hen at the bowling alley and go home but Ram was kind of tired too. Hen and Ram went in and picked up our preordered bentos and we went home. We had dinner at 9pm and boy was Anthony grouchy.
Sun 9/20 was just as busy. I had put a pork shoulder in the crock pot the night before and woke up at 4am briefly to start the 10 cup rice cooker. At 7:45 I took Anthony to his soccer game (thankfully local in Menlo Park) which was 8:30-9:30am while Hen drove to Santa Clara with the Kahlua pork and rice and then met us at the soccer field to watch. Ant did not play goalie. His team lost 5-2.
At 9:30am when the game ended, I took Ant to Burgess for his Fall Ball game 9:30-11am. Ant was about 10 minutes late. Ant pitched the 3rd inning and played catcher for the 4th inning. No runs were scored while he pitched but he sure needs work. :) He also got a hit while batting as a lefty. He wants to be a switch hitter and has been working on it at batting lessons with Coach Jason.
At 11:45, we all left for Ramsey's last basketball game of the weekend which was 1:10pm. Sadly (and as we expected and had prepped Ram), he did not get any play time for this game as the opponent was SUPER good. 5 boys including Ram never got off the bench. Sadly the team lost. We left the gym at 3:30pm and we were all exhausted!
