After the first game, we had to wait around to figure out whether we would be in the championship game or the 3rd/4th place game. They checked out the tournament trophies and were *so* happy to learn they would play in the championship!
We went to his teammate Max's hotel room (across the street from the complex) and ate Subway sandwiches for lunch and the boys changed to their red uniform. The championship game was 1-2pm. The weather app showed no rain at 1:00 but 40% chance of rain by 2:00. Oh my, it started drizzling at 1:50 and was downright pouring by 1:52 and by the time the game ended in a 1-1 tie at 2:00, we were completely DRENCHED. The kids were soaking!
I put away my camera when it started drizzling….
The game was near end and score was 0-0. Our team got a goal in and all the parents were *so happy* --- but then the other team got a goal to tie 1-1 with only 10 seconds left! Argh. A tie game with pouring rain! We had to go into penalty kick to break the tie. Anthony was the goalie for his team. Ultimately we lost because the other team kicked one in, our team missed the goal, the other team kicked the second one in, our team got our goal blocked, the other team kicked the third one in, our team got our goal blocked. At that point the game ended because there was no way we could catch up to the 3 goals. Argh!
We went to the team canopy and everyone was so wet. The goalie jersey saved Ant from being super muddy...
I lined the backseat of the Prius with a blanket and buckled the muddy and wet Ant in. We drove 40 minutes home in the rain.
